Norton Canes high school is virtually unique, being one of the few small secondary schools to be built in Staffordshire.  Our reputation for being at the heart of the local community is long-standing and we have now gained recognition for academic excellence, being in the top 20 schools nationally for improvement in 2007.

Our excellence in Mathematics put us in the top 2% of schools nationally and with 91% of our students gaining one or more GCSE equivalent grades in ICT. As well as academic success we offer an individual learning experience for young people   that only a small school like ours with a totally dedicated staff can give.  It can best be described as being part of a caring family, in which guidance and support are ever present and the needs of children come first.  Starting secondary school is exciting and sometimes a little daunting prospect for young people and their parents.

At Norton Canes we have created a learning environment in which students:

  • Are safe and secure
  • Are well cared for
  • Can work without distraction
  • Receive high quality teaching
  • Have access to the best facilities
  • Are treated as individuals
  • Respect each other
  • Have opportunities to learn and take part in other activities beyond the school day
  • Are well prepared for adult life and the world of work

I would however urge you to visit us during a normal school day, to really appreciate the calm and friendly working atmosphere that sets this school apart from most others.  Visitors always comment on this, the cleanliness of the site and the caring nature of staff and students.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
