Best Ever GCSE English Results

IMPROVEMENTS continue to be made at Norton Canes High School after students recorded the highest ever pass rate in English.

The school has seen a rise by almost 20% with last year’s 50% pass rate at A* – C level being beaten by a 67% pass level in 2015.

Students and teachers alike were also celebrating high performances in other subjects such as Religious Education, 100% pass rate with 63% achieving an A or A*, Child Development, 92% A* – C, Art 85% A* – C, Music 100% A* – C, History 78% A* – C, ICT 70%,A* – C, Resistant Materials 70% and PE at 73% A* – C.

Meanwhile 48% of pupils also achieved A* – C in English and maths – which had seen a 6% increase on last year.

Head Teacher Sara Birchall was quick to praise pupils following the results: “Congratulations to hard working pupils and staff, we are welcoming the majority of our pupils back into our excellent sixth form this year where we will continue to build on our outstanding A Level results.”

Highest achieving students included Emelia Hayward who picked up 11 GCSES including nine at A*/A, Ethan Hurford who achieved 10 GCSES with four at A*/A, Gemma Bailey gained nine GCSES with five A*/A while Steven Schnabel achieved 10 GCSES with one A*/A.

A-level results 2015: Best yet for Norton Canes High School as they achieve 100 per cent pass rate

Students and staff at Norton Canes High School are celebrating today after achieving their best ever A level results.

This year saw students achieving a fantastic 100% pass rate at A2 level with 55% of passes gaining an A* to B grade – seeing an increase of 26% with the 2014  rate being 29%.

Head Teacher Sara Birchall praised all the students for their results: “All our students are off to university and we are exceptionally proud of them.

Well done to all our students and the staff who worked so hard to help them realise their potential.”

The school also showed an increase at AS level from the previous year with there being a pass rate of 87% with 46% of them being at A* – B level.

Students taking ICT also performed exceptionally well with all those taking exams achieving A*/ A grades.
