National School Sports week: 22nd – 26th June
During this week we will be running house competitions at lunchtimes (house points earned for just having a go); obviously these competitions are weather permitting! We will also be having a visit on Wednesday 24th June from an athlete who has competed in and won medals at the Commonwealth games. Some of you may be lucky enough to experience coaching from this athlete in your PE lessons!
Monday 22nd lunchtime: Crossbar Challenge (field)
Tuesday 23rd lunchtime: Indoor archery (sports hall)
Wednesday 24th lunchtime: Beat the keeper (field)
The athlete visiting us ionm Wednesday coming in will be a top GB 400m runner who is currently ranked 2nd in the UK, and therefore will be most likely competing at the world championships in August. His name is Jarryd Dunn. He is a former National champion, but also recently competed at the European team championships, and will also be on the BBC on Thursday for an in-depth interview. In terms of publicity and future Olympians, Jarryd would be a great role model, as he is ranked as one of the top athletes in Europe.
Thursday 25th lunchtime: Golf- nearest the pin (field)
Friday 26th lunchtime: Basketball free throw challenge (sports hall)
We’re running a Scholastic Book Club to earn free books for our school. We’ll be sending the Book Club leaflets home so that you and your child can choose from the latest exciting selection of books. Please place your order online at http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/norton-canes by July 1st, 2015.
